Why printing your photos is SO worth it from a Minnesota photographer

April 26, 2022

I’m about to get on my little soapbox for a hot minute (forgive me ahead of time, please! hahaha). I feel super duper strongly about this topic though and it’s not talked about enough in this digital age we live in. Let me ask you one thing that might make you think a little differently about printing your images— Are you going to invest hundreds or thousands of dollars to have your family or wedding professionally photographed juuuust for those beautiful & meaningful images to sit on your computer or cell phone? Memories should not live on a screen, people— can I get an amen?! 😉

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t guilty of this too. But every time I print my photos— I am so happy that I did. I love having a tangible copy of my favorite memories— something to physically hold in my hands. It might sound odd, but you have to agree that looking at printed photos vs. looking at photos on a screen is a completely different experience. Not many people are going to ask you to pull up your wedding photos on your phone, but if you have a physical album on your coffee table— people will regularly pick it up & look through it (& so will you!).

Print Quality

Now let’s chat about print quality— because that matters too. I’ll ask you a similar question to the above one— Are you going to invest thousands of dollars on your photography experience and then turn around and only spend $20 on a Shutterfly book to display the images? Sorry if that’s a little harsh, but I’d be doing you a disservice by ignoring this topic. These photos are an heirloom for you & your family. Pleaseeeee put them into an album that is going to last the test of time. In addition to the actual physical quality of good albums & prints— the actual visual quality will likely be compromised if you choose to print your photos at Walgreens, Wal-Mart, Shutterfly, etc. Colors & contrast within the images will be different than if you were to print through professional quality printers. You truly truly get what you pay for.

Once you get your full gallery— do yourself a favor & check out the store I have set up that’s right within the gallery site. I have hand-selected high-quality vendors to print through & know the quality of everything in the store will be top-notch. I promise you won’t regret spending the extra money. Plus, it’s super convenient already having your gallery right there. It’s a win-win, friend. Note: you will always get a coupon code that’s good for a month after your session or wedding to use in the store. Please reach out to me with any questions about printing!

I’ll say this one more time for the people in the back— memories should not live on your screens! Print those images! ….aaaaaaand I’ll step off my soapbox now. 🙂
