This Duluth engagement session gave me allll the feels. Mostly because Trisha & Sam were SO beyond thoughtful & intentional when planning out the shoot to make it feel as true to them as possible. Which is exactly how it should be— images that tell your story in the most real way possible. We started the evening with a short hike (complete with a beer break because duh). They wore their hiking gear because it felt like them. We packed up & headed to a random gravel road. Trisha had set up some twinkly lights in the trunk of their Subaru— complete with blankets & pillows. Staying up late & watching the sun come up is a part of their story. They also love camping, so even though we didn’t stay out there all night— it still had meaning to them. They also brought some yummy tea & took a break to take a few sips because they love tea.

We ended the shoot on the shore of Lake Superior. The wind was blowing, it was a bit chilly & the sky was creating some sort of storm (crazy cool clouds!). They met in Duluth & so much of their story belongs to the cities along this beautiful lake, so again— it felt right. 

At the end of the shoot— they sent me home with a big case of Bent Paddle beer because it was my husband’s birthday the next day (the big 3-0!). I’d never met them before the shoot, yet they still were so beyond thoughtful to have done something like that. My kind of people!! I am beyond honored & excited to head back to Duluth in August to tell the story of their wedding day. For now, enjoy their photos from their engagement shoot.
